Binti Kiranja Launch

July 1st , Dar es salaam

The Doyenne organization celebrated the official launch of its new leardershirp program, Binti Kiranja at Muhimbili University of Health and Applied Sciences(MUHAS). With an excellent reception of eager young leaders and insipring remarks given by  Doyenne Founder Fatma Kaugaand other guest speakers, the initiation of this program was set on a great start. For those who do not know, Binti Kiranja is a club initiative aiming to provide a supportive network to young female leaders at Tanzania’s higher learning institutions. These young women will be mentored by Doyenne’s own Niongoze Fellowship alumnae, who will provide advice and support for any professional or future related questions that these students may have.

Networks are vital to the growth of young people’s leadership skills. Not only through instructing how to be a good leader but through building strong relationships and fostering collaboration both now and in the future Doyenne’s Niongoze Fellowship alumnae have  proven several times over, their exceptional abilities as upstanding members of their community and their commitment to achieving great things. We are looking forward to the growth of social bonds between alumnae and members of Binti Kiranja clubs at Tanzania’s higher learning institutions.

The launch of Binti Kiranja at  MUHAS was only the first launch of many across the higher learning institutions of Tanzania. This launch was lucky enough to have guest speakers as well as a Guest of Honor, the first ever female president of MUHAS – Dr. Vanessa Rutabana. In a touching speech President Rutabana stated “Today, and always, we are committing to taking every step towards achieving what society has thought for a long time, that we couldn’t bring authentic yet driven learders’.

Her words were truly inspiring and Doyenne very much appreciates her support on this project. Other guests of honor included Niongoze Fellow Rebecca Muna, as well as the host of the event Maryam Surveh, Doyenne founder Fatma Kauga also made a noteworthy speech saying that “one of Doyenne organization’s strategic goals for this year is to directly impact more than 1000 university girls.” These women are prime examples of how thoroughly leadership can reach others and the pay it forward aspect of the Binti Kiranja initiative will surely lead   to an immense network of young female leaders teaching and learning from one another

The motto of Binti Kiranja is to Develop, Collaborate and lead . We cannot wait to achieve tis and more as the program continues . We so grateful for our hosts at MUHAS and we are proud to consider the launch of Binti Kiranja success!
